Italy’s vast array of quality sparkling wines extend well beyond just Prosecco, Franciacorta or Moscato Bianco. But it can be confusing to differentiate between them all and hard to find examples in HK. In this 2.5 hrs masterclass, our VIA Italian Wine Ambassador and Certified Italian Wine Educator, Justin Chen, will guide you through the diversified world of Italian Bollicine (“bubbles” in Italian). From this amazing lineup of 14 wines, you’ll taste a wide range of high quality sparkling wines made by different methods (ancestrale, martinotti/charmat and traditional/champagne) and using different grape varieties (international and native). Some are totally unique – we guarantee you’ll taste something new… and that you’ll be surprised by their excellent quality and diverse and distinctive characters. Plus, we will, for the first time, disgorge a sparkling wine on site in our class! Bubbles make the world brighter – so let’s explore, taste and toast to a brighter future!
- Vintage Franciacorta from two historical family producers located in the heart of the production zone. This allows you to taste the two very popular styles of Franciacorta (Satèn and Pas Dose);
- Top quality TrentoDoc classic method sparkling wine aged “sur lie” for 5 years. This wine is not available in Hong Kong, but thanks to our generous sponsor, we are the first to taste it in Hong Kong!

- Justin founded Joy Palate Wine Academy in 2014 and had been the wine educator and wine consultant between Hong Kong and Guangzhou for the academy previously. He has a wide range of wine-related qualifications, including DipWSET, WSET Certified Educator, Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) Italian Wine Ambassador and VIA Certified Italian Wine Educator, Knight of Truffle and Wine of Alba, and was awarded a Runner-up at the Hong Kong International Top Tasters Competition by The Drinks Business in 2016.
