Exam: 14 Jan at 2pm

- How principal natural and human factors in the vineyard and winery can influence the style, quality, and price of wines
- Characteristics of key wine producing regions of the world
- Characteristics of sparkling wines of the world
- Characteristics of fortified wines
- Ability to provide information and advice to customers and staff members about wines
Speaker
Mr. Justin Chen
Justin is a wine educator at MWM Wine School in Hong Kong. He founded Joy Palate Wine Academy in 2014 and was the wine educator and wine consultant for Hong Kong and Guangzhou for the academy. Justin has a wide-range of professional qualifications, including DipWSET, WSET Certified Educator, Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) Italian Wine Ambassador & Certified Italian Wine Educator, Wine Scholar Guild Italian Wine Scholar (Highest Honors), Knight of Truffle and Wine of Alba, and was awarded a Runner-up at the Hong Kong International Top Tasters Competition by The Drinks Business in 2016.
Prerequisite
Completion of WSET Level 2 or equivalent recommended
All applicants must be over 18+
Course Structure
45 tutoring hours
- A mid term and mock exam will be included
Examination
Unit One (2 hours): Theory Examination
- 50 multiple-choice questions (part 1)
- 4 short written answers worth 25 points each (part 2)
Unit Two (30 minutes): Tasting Examination
- Blind tasting of two wines
- 55% passing grade for all papers and units of the examination
