Italian Wine Masterclass Series – Regional Focus
Exploring the Great Terroirs and Wines from Campania and Basilicata
Campania is probably the only wine region in Italy which can produce greatest white and red wines at the same time. Its ancient viticultural and winemaking traditions, hilly topography coupled with ideal soils and climatic conditions and characteristic local grape varieties (Falanghina, Greco, Finao, Aglianico and Piedirosso, etc.) ensure this place the potential to produce the very best among all Italian wines. This region seemed to have lost its prestige that it once had over the last century but fortunately, a renaissance is definitely underway. Now it is the right time for us do some in-depth exploration of this wonderful region along with its lesser-known neighbour – Basilicata, which is much smaller in terms of vine planting area but nevertheless grows of one of the Italy’s most prestigious red grapes – Aglianico on the extinct volcano to make Aglicanico del Vulture, which, along with Taurasi in Campania, shares the fame as the “Barolo of the South”!
This three hour masterclass lead by our VIA Italian Wine Ambassador and Certified Italian Wine Educator – Mr. Justin Chen is going to be an eye-opening experience for any serious Italian wine lovers to learn the history, terroir, indigenous grape varieties and diversified wine styles in these two magical regions. As always, the line-up of our masterclass will be amazing and eye-catching, so Don’t Miss it!
