Andrew Strachan is the General Manager for Art Basel’s show in Hong Kong, and a member of the Management Board of Art Basel. Over the past six years, he has played a pivotal role in the art fair’s launch and subsequent success in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Art Basel Andrew spent 15 years in the events and exhibitions industry, launching and leading live events across many countries in Europe and Asia. He has been based in Hong Kong for 10 years, is passionate about the outdoors, and holds a degree in International Business Studies.
A Hong Kong resident for nearly 30 years, Master of Wine Debra Meiburg is an award-winning author, TV personality and international speaker, and is widely considered the global authority on the Asian wine market. She is founding director of Meiburg Wine Media, Asia’s leading wine marketing agency, as well as wine consultant for Cathay Pacific Airways and Cathay Dragon, and holds the position of Chair of the Education Committee for the Institute of Masters of Wine.
Elizabeth L. Thomson, Chairwoman and the Founder of ICS TRUST (ASIA) LIMITED (sold in 2014), describes herself as “a lawyer by profession, an entrepreneur by choice”. Based in Hong Kong since 1977, Ms. Thomson founded the Women Business Owners Club in 1985, and Co-Founded The Women Entrepreneur Network in 2016. Ms. Thomson is the Director of The Amber Foundation, a non-profit supporting ethnic minority education in Hong Kong.
After several experiences in wine grower’s families and Houses of champagne, Gaëlle joined Veuve Clicquot and the Development, Innovation and Communication of Oenology team and manages projects from technical improvements in wine-making to communication events. During the harvest, she is in charge of the Veuve Clicquot pressing centre in the Côte des Blancs and of the Chardonnay vinification.
Gina made her first feature film in Shanghai in 2008. Since then she has produced and directed 8 more film projects, working with filmmakers from Japan, France, China and Bosnia. She has shown in over 40 festivals around the world.
It was Gina’s work as a producer of films that she realised how difficult it is for independent films to find an engaged audience, especially for women filmmakers and minority groups to show their films. PUFF Film Festival was then born out of a calling so that these marginal voices are being heard. Thus PUFF curate films that excels in the craft of story telling without the need of a big budget, and to show films that put unconventional characters as the leads.
Dr Cronin was appointed President of Wharf Hotels (formerly Marco Polo Hotels) from 2014, having held various senior marketing and operational managerial positions in leading international hotel groups including Hyatt International and Ritz-Carlton.
Jennifer graduated with a Doctorate of Philosophy from Bond University and conferred Bond’s most prestigious alumni accolade; the Robert Stable Alumni Medal, for her exceptional achievement in bridging academia and industry. Jennifer also receiving the 2016 APAC BMW Corporate Hotelier of the Year Award.
Jennifer is the Chairperson of the Industry Advisory Committee for the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, Hong Kong PolyU, as well as the Advisory Board of the Bond Business School, Bond University.
Karen Contet Farzam is passionate about Technology and Startups, co-founder of WHub.io, Hong Kong biggest startup community and a founding board member of the FinTech Association of Hong Kong.
Karen is an ambassador of the FrenchTech, community leader for Techstars and mentor for several accelerator programs. Karen has been working in Asia for 13 years, starting in Tokyo as JP Morgan Exotic Equity Derivatives Trader to Software Engineer for an IoT Startup and teaching Front-End Web Development. She is also immersed in the Tech Scene, speaker at JS conference 2015 in Singapore and founder of Women WhoCodeHK. Karen has a double degree engineering diploma (France EPF – Canada ETS) and Master in Finance International from HEC Paris.
Lori is a 4x TEDx Speaker, 2x Entrepreneur of the Year award winner, professional speaker, and million dollar business builder. She is the founder of Legendary Coaching & the Boss Lady Millionaires Club. Her mission is to help increase the number of women running million dollar businesses (currently 2%) by sharing their message, scaling their businesses and impacting the world. Lori lives in Hong Kong (for 25 years but originally from New Orleans). Her businesses have been featured in publications such as Travel and Leisure, Time, Newsweek, Forbes, Essence, and The Robb Report. Her television appearances include CNBC’s ‘The Winners’, CNN’s Global Office program, a six week run on Bloomberg’s Asia Confidential and as a contestant on The Biggest Loser Asia. May Tan was the Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank (Hong Kong) Limited (“SCBHK”) for three years before her retirement on March 1st, 2017. May joined the SCBHK Board in 2009 when the bank acquired Cazenove Asia. Since her retirement, May has focussed on Board positions, both corporate and charities. She is an Independent Non Executive Director (INED) of Link Asset Management (Link), the largest Asian listed REIT. She is a member of Link’s Audit and Risk Committee, Remuneration Committee and Nomination Committee.
In June 2017, she joined the Board of MSIG HK, the HK subsidiary of the largest non life insurer in Japan and is a member of the Audit Committee. In January 2018, May joined the Board of HSBC Insurance Hong Kong as an INED and is a member of the Audit Committee.
Nick was formerly the Managing Director for APAC and member of the Executive Committee. He joined Harvey Nash plc in 2002, a London listed global professional services firm. Nick built and ran the executive search business as Global Managing Director.
Nick is an experienced public speaker having been featured as a keynote speaker at many major conferences and events across the European and Asia-Pac regions. He is also a regular media commentator including Bloomberg TV, the Wall Street Journal Asia, The Financial Times, The Peak Magazine, South China Morning Post and various HR related titles.
As CEO of McDonald’s HK, Randy manages around 240 restaurants with 15,000 employees serving more than one million customers every day. Born and raised in HK, Randy is the first CEO nurtured in this market, and the first female Managing Director of McDonald’s Singapore in 2010. From 2013 to 2015, she held the position of McDonald’s Regional Manager for Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Besides being named CEO of the Year twice at the Asia Pacific Customer Relationship Excellence Awards in 2011 and 2016 respectively, Randy also won the CIM Marketer of the Year and the Distinguished Marketer awards in 2006 at the acclaimed Hong Kong Management Association/TVB Awards. In 2012, she received the Young Alumni Award from Western University. In 2017, she was named Professional of the Year at the AmCham Women of Influence Awards.
Sarah Heller is a wine communicator, designer and consultant based in Hong Kong and one of the youngest people in the world to become a Master of Wine. Having graduated from Yale University with a degree in fine art, Sarah began her career in the New York and Hong Kong wine trades and wineries in France and Italy. She was Executive Director of events and education firm Meiburg Wine Media in Hong Kong for three years.
Tricia Yap is the Co-Founder of Warrior Academy and also the Director of Fitness for HK’s latest progressive wellness concept, Goji Studios. She is recognized as one of the most accomplished health and fitness experts in Hong Kong and featured on TimeOut, CNN and Bloomberg, amongst others since her first venture, Bikini Fit – an all female only health and wellness community. Tricia is known for her philosophy of encouraging a holistic and balanced mindset towards lifestyle, nutrition and training.
She is a writer and speaker on entrepreneurship, health and wellness – TedxWomen TinHau and Wanchai, The Women’s Foundation, CanChamHK, General Assembly, HKMBA UST, international schools and much more. She was also HK’s first professional female MMA fighter and had a lead coaching role in Hong Kong’s ViuTV most watched MMA reality tv program – G1 Fight Club.
Xania Wong, AIWS, is a certified WSET (Wine & Spirits Educational Trust) educator (UK), WSET diploma holder, a wine judge and a freelance wine writer. Xania founded Xantana Wine, offering customized wine solutions to wineries, wine trades and corporate clients. Their services include custom- /re-branding, wine and food pairing as well as corporate and media wine events management. In 2012, Xantana Wine also launched Wine2Go App, Asia’s first location based wine search mobile app based on food and occasion matching.
Outside of wine, she also runs JOBDOH, a smart-hiring platform that connects employers with curated on-demand talents in critical time frame. She was a winner of Google’s Empowering Young Entrepreneur competition, Chivas’ the Venture Competition HK and was selected as one of Hong Kong Tatler’s Generation Ts – 50 of Hong Kong’s brightest connectors, creative visionaries, influential innovators and disruptive talents – in 2017.
