MWM Wine School offers wine tastings in the style of Masters of Wine mock exams, replicating those that students will inevitably face as part of MW studies. Earning WSET diploma from a WSET school is the prerequisite for applying for the MW program. WSET award winners may enroll in the current MW program.
In order to be able to assure the quality of the WSET experience anywhere in the world, WSET operates an approval and monitoring scheme for such third-party partners through its WSET Awards division. A key feature of these arrangements is that Approved Programme Providers are only approved if they meet – and continue to meet – WSET’s quality criteria.
As the wine drinking scene evolves across the Greater China region wine, there has been greater demand for formal wine and spirits education and WSET chose the tax-free wine hub of Hong Kong for its first international foray.
Following the UK, China has overtaken the USA to be the second biggest market for WSET and the largest growth market, with candidate numbers for 2015/16 up 38% on the previous year and course registrations for 2016/17 showing no signs of slowing, according to WSET’s research.
WSET began offering courses in China in 2006, and now over 130 APPs offer courses across the region serving the trade and wine and spirits enthusiasts. The new office in Hong Kong’s Wan Chai district will serve to support its existing Approved Programme Providers (APPs) across Greater China and Hong Kong. The full range of WSET courses is available from WSET Level 1 Awards in Wines, Spirits and Sake to the specialist Level 4 Diploma in Wines and Spirits.

The exclusive wine WSET school of Hong Kong’s Southern District, MWM Wine School boasts a modern space within a Grade A office building, 8 minutes from Admiralty. MWM Wine School will begin offer “WSET” – an internationally-recognised wine industry qualification in June. Master of Wine study programmes are also available at MWM Wine School.
