SUMMARY:South Italian Wines & Native Grapes Study
DESCRIPTION:Workshop dates: 26 May\, 2 June \nTime: 19:30-22:30 \nEducator: Justin Chen\, Italian Wine Ambassador\, Certified WSET & Italian Wine Educator \nNative grape varieties are the key to understand the styles of Italian wines. Based on Italian Wine Maestro program by Vinitaly International Academy\, the “Native Grapes Study” series will present the major varieties with a systematic approach. \n6-8 wines will be offered in each session to elaborate on the wine styles. Perfect for students who wish to further the study in either North\, Central or South of Italy. \nFocus on Southern Italian Wine Regions\nAlthough mostly influenced by Mediterranean climate\, wine regions of Southern Italy are distinctive in styles. Sicily’s diversified landscapes and micro-climates nurture countless indigenous grape varieties. Among the Sicilian regions\, one of the most known region should be Mt. Etna\, which is often regarded as “Burgundy of the Mediterranean”. Further north\, you will find Campania and Basilicata that produce both great reds and whites. Not to be missed would be Sardinia – is one of Italy’s best-kept wine secrets. \n  \nWho is this workshop for?\nThis program aims to develop a group of highly knowledgeable and skilled specialists who are able to speak and write about Italian wines with authority and will be credible representatives of Vinitaly International Academy. Students may include but are not limited to\, Italian wine lovers\, sommeliers\, trade professionals\, wine buyers\, educators and wine writers. \n  \n  \nWhat is Italian Wine Maestro?\nAs the complementary base course to VIA’s education system\, Italian Wine Maestro is not only the foundation course to the higher-level Italian Wine Ambassador qualification but also resonates with the continuous contribution from the evolving VIA world community. Ultimately\, the VIA qualifications aim to be the gold standard of Italian Wine Education\, under the guidance of its founder Stevie Kim\, VIA Chief scientist Prof. Attilio Scienza and supported by the Institutional Advisory board members. \n  \nAfter completing all the 3 series\, you can also apply for the Italian Wine Maestro examination. \n
