DESCRIPTION:No other wine country has so many native grape varieties suitable for wine production as does Italy. It has 590 wine grape varieties officially recognized to date\, one quarter of the world’s total! Although with world-class quality and diversified styles\, white wines of Italy made from indigenous grape varieties tend to be greatly overshadowed by the country’s famous native grape reds like those made from Nebbiolo\, Sangiovese\, Aglianico and Nerello Mascalese.\n\n \n\nIn this 2.5 hour masterclass\, our VIA Italian Wine Ambassador and Certified Italian Wine Educator – Justin Chen will present 18 great white wines (our biggest ever masterclass tasting!)\, all made from Italian native grape varieties including Arneis & Timorasso from Piedmont\, Ribolla Gialla & Friulano from Friuli Venezia Guilia\, Vernaccia di San Gimignano from Tuscany\, Verdicchio from Marche\, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo & Pecorino from Abruzzo\, Falanghina\, Greco & Fiano from Campania\, Carricante from Etna\, Sicily\, Vermentino from Sardinia as well as two rare and unique wines – the traditional wine from Marsala (Sicily) and the Vernaccia di Oristano from Sardinia. These wines were carefully selected by Justin from top Italian wine merchants in Hong Kong in order to reflect the highest quality and wide range of styles of Italy whites\, many iconic and legendary producers are included. This is not only an eye-opening experience for any serious wine lover but also a very informative and educational class for all Italian wine students (VIA & IWS)\, WEST level 3 & Diploma students to gain a deeper and comprehensive knowledge on Italian indigenous white grape varieties and the different wine styles.
