The syllabus takes a regional approach and discusses all Italian wine appellations and the factors that shape their identities. The program provides committed students of wine with an unparalleled set of study tools that are designed to maximise learning and boost knowledge retention. It was created by native Italian\, Maurizio Broggi\, DipWSET\, FWS\, CSW with the support of the Italian wine DOC/G consortia.\n\n 	Master the wines of Italy at a professional level\n 	Prepare for moving toward advanced general wine study programs such as WSET Diploma (level 4)\, Master of Wine\, Court of Master Sommeliers’ Advanced Sommelier (level 3 and up) or Society of Wine Educator’s Certified Wine Educator (CWE).\n 	Earn the Italian Wine Scholar title and the IWS post-nominal which may be incorporated into a professional signature (e.g. John Smith\, IWS).\n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend?\n\n 	Members of the wine trade\n 	Serious wine hobbyists seeking specialisation and certification\n 	ALL ITALIAN WINE LOVERS – anyone wishing to become more knowledgeable about Italy\, and its wine and food culture\n\nPre-requisites?\nNo pre-requisites\, but strongly recommend that students have completed WSET Level 2 Award in Wines\, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) or Court of Master Sommelier’s Introductory Sommelier Certificate (Level 1).\nWhat does the program cover?\n\n 	History\, culture and traditions\n 	Location and climate with their effects on viticulture and wines\n 	Topography\, geography and soils\n 	Grape varieties and their organoleptic profiles\n 	Viticulture and winemaking\n 	Wine industry trends and economics\n 	All DOCs and DOCGs with their regulations\, wine styles and specificities\n\nA COMPREHENSIVE COVER OF ITALY’S 9 DISTINCT NORTHERN WINE REGIONS: Valle d’Aosta\, Lombardia\, Piemonte\, Trentino\, Alto Adige\, Veneto\, Friuli-Venezia Giulia\, Liguria\, Emilia-Romagna\nExamination\n\n 	90 minutes\n 	100 multiple-choice questions\n 	75% passing grade\n 	To become an Italian Wine Scholar and receive the IWS credential candidates need to pass the exams for Unit 1 and Unit 2 with a composite score of 75%. The scores from both exams are added together and averaged for final assessment.\n 	Students with a composite score of 85-90.5 pass with HONORS. Candidates scoring 91-100 pass with HIGHEST HONORS.\n 	Examination will be conducted on a separate date\n\n \n\n\nJustin Chen:\nJustin is a wine educator at MWM Wine School in Hong Kong. He founded Joy Palate Wine Academy in 2014 and was the wine educator and wine consultant for Hong Kong and Guangzhou for the academy. Justin has a wide-range of professional qualifications\, including DipWSET\, WSET Certified Educator\, Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) Italian Wine Ambassador & Certified Italian Wine Educator\, Wine Scholar Guild Italian Wine Scholar (Highest Honors)\, Knight of Truffle and Wine of Alba\, and was awarded a Runner-up at the Hong Kong International Top Tasters Competition by The Drinks Business in 2016.\n\n\nItalian Wine Scholar:\nThe Italian Wine Scholar™ education program is the most advanced\, comprehensive\, and up-to-date Italian wine course available.
